A lifelong resident of Pensacola, "Jerry" graduated from Pensacola High School in 1954. It was during her time at PHS that she met the love of her life, Robert H. Waldrop, Sr. The two married on April 5, 1958.
After Robert's discharge from active duty in the U.S. Army and his retirement from a distinguished career in the Pensacola Police Department, he and Jerry opened a successful local franchise of a national security company which they ran together for over 20 years. Although her official title at the time was Secretary, today it would've been Office Manger as everyone who ever dealt with the company knew who really ran the office.
One of her favorite hobbies was collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, each piece of which had a story that she was always eager to tell. Throughout her lifetime, Jerry was a huge baseball fan from her days as a child keeping score for the old Pensacola Flyers to her later years being a fixture at Pensacola Wahoo games - she was always up for "a ballgame". One of the many joys of her life was being able to attend several major league games with her son and grandchildren. For over 45 years, Jerry was an active and beloved member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Pensacola.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and her younger sister, Janis Franklin.
She is survived by her sister, Lelia Hattaway (Clyde Jerry Hattaway) of Pensacola; only child, son Robert H. "Bobby" Waldrop, Jr and wife Cynthia Fleming Waldrop of Hoover, AL; three grandchildren Erin Dillard (Brandon) of Auburn, AL, Ryan Waldrop of Hoover, AL and Megan Waldrop also of Hoover, AL; two great-grandchildren, Roland Dillard and Ryder Dillard of Auburn, AL; several nieces and nephews, a large extended family and countless friends.
