Glen R. "Sam" Alford, Jr. 1965 - 2013

Glen R. "Sam" Alford, Jr., 47, of Pensacola, departed this earth for his Heavenly Home on July 21, 2013. Born in San Diego, CA, he was predeceased by parents, Glen and Shirley Alford. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Robin Douglas Alford; sisters, Jessica Shackelford and Terrie Stewart; brother, Donald Hedges; sister-in-law, Diane Reynolds; brother-in-law, Doug Reynolds; parents-in-law, Bob and Barbara Douglas; and nephews, Matthew and Joseph Shackelford. Sam had honorably served in the US Army. He was a current member of Brownsville Baptist Church. While Sam had many friends, he had a special friendship with Adam Rolfs. Sam was a devoted and loving husband, brother, son-in-law and uncle. He was always there to lend a helping hand and do anything he could for anyone, wanting nothing in return. He enjoyed golf, cooking and making people laugh and smile. The funeral service, officiated by Dr. John Pavlous, will be at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 3pm with visitation one hour prior. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The New Beginnings Baptist Church 808 N. New Warrington Rd Pensacola, FL 32506 (formerly known as Circle Baptist Church) in memory of Sam Alford, Jr. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Robin,John and I could not have asked for better neighbors. Sam will be missed tremendously! Not only did Sam fulfill our lives but he also fulfilled our bellies with his delicious meals. Robin, my heart is breaking for you and your family. As we all know Sam was a wonderful man. I'm so thankful for the times I've spent with you & Sam thru the years. I loved comming for dinner when he was trying out new recipes, I so enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table watching him cook. We all know how he loved to cook!! Sam was always there to help me as well as anyone else he knew, He will be truly missed in so many ways. I love you lots, and am here for you and your family. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts & prayers.

Robin, My heart is breaking for you and your family. Sam,as we all know was a wonderful man. I'm so thankful for the times I have spent with both of you thru the years. I always looked forward to dinner w/ ya'll when Sam had new recipes he wanted to try, I loved sitting at the table,watching him cook in the kitchen. He was always there to help me or anyone else that needed something done. He will be dearly missed, but always in our hearts & memories. I love you lots and will be here for you & your family.
