Born on June 19, 1942, in Pearl River, Mississippi, Glenn brought humor and energy to everything in his life. He married Jeanette Miley on March 1, 1966, and together they will have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year—a testament to their deep love and commitment to one another
Glenn joined the U.S. Navy at 17 years of age and immediately knew that serving his country brought him great pride. After 23 years in the service and many stories to share about his trips around the world and amazing friendships that continue to this day, Glenn retired as a Senior Chief in San Diego, CA. He then began a fruitful career as a Government Contracting leader, which brought them to Pensacola and Jacksonville Florida, until his retirement in 2004.
Although Glenn was not a soccer player himself, he embraced being a year-round coach for both his son, Bryan and his daughter, Sheri. Outdoor and indoor soccer games and tournaments filled the calendars, while time was spent enjoying family and friends. He would tell the female players that “Soccer players don’t have boyfriends,” to keep them focused during practice. He went out of his way to support the kids on the team who may not have the resources to get to practice or enjoy a professional soccer match by picking them up and treating them like family.
Glenn never met a stranger. If you had met him once, you remembered him and he called you “friend”. He was generous and kind, teaching his children to be this way even with those they had never met.
Glenn is survived by his daughter, Sheri Lowe of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanette Lowe, their daughter Janet Michelle; their son Bryan Glenn; his parents Larkin Lowe and Laura Pugh and in-laws John and Myrtle Miley.
May Glenn’s memory, kindness and amazing sense of humor bring comfort to those who knew and loved him. His service will be held, along with his wife, in Pensacola, Florida at Bayview Memorial Park, located at 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola FL, on March 5th at 12:00 p.m.
