Absolutely devastate to hear about Dr Cooks passing. He was always such an easy going, funny , and joyful person! Though I wasn’t an archaeology major, I remember all of the halarious stories he would tell in his class in those signature Hawaiian shirts! I got the opportunity to travel with Greg and Amy back in 2022 and they were both so welcoming and kind. Dr Cook will be so missed! Sending all the love, hugs and prayers to Amy and Addie!

Rest in peace sir, I hardly knew you for long; but you were a massive inspiration. I changed my major to anthropology. 
There are things I would have liked to discuss with you, scuba and the like. But since that will never be the case, I wanted you to at least know that you’ve been an inspiration to myself and the rest of the class. We spent the period after we heard the news just talking about the stories you shared with us. I’ll pour you out a glass when I get back to England.

I grew up with Greg.  We became friends when his family moved into my neighborhood two houses down on Fisher Rd in Indiana.  We become fast friends where bonded over Star Wars, hiking in the local woods, aviation, fun games like kick ball, In the Dark Thing and the ever popular Run Around the House and Kill Each Other.  Greg also helped me carry my 3 months missing dog home for burial when we found him in the woods.  I'll never forget that.   
 I last saw Greg in 2011 when we had dinner when I was down in Alabama for some Army training.  We occasionally would message each other.  I had hoped to have visited him at his college when I could find the time.  Life becomes too short I guess.  I will miss you Greg was glad to have shared childhood together.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Amy and his daughter.

I was one of Greg Cook's colleagues and a fellow student at Syracuse University, while we both studied for PhD degrees in archaeology there during the 2000s. I remember Greg, along with Rachel Horlings, another colleague who died too young, as a polite, helpful, knowledgeable and interesting archaeologist. The discipline of archaeology will be all the poorer for his passing, and, especially, for the excellent work he will now not be able to continue. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fellow underwater archaeologists.

This was a horrible thing to hear. Losing a respected professor and mentor who helped to inspire my love for archaeology has been a shock. Dr. Cook loved everything about his work. He was passionate and driven. And, most importantly, he loved his family and cared for his students. You are greatly missed,  Professor, and no one can fill the space you left.

To say I'm gobsmacked is an enormous understatement. Greg is one of the nicest people I've ever known. We met in grad school, and became part of an amazing trio (Greg, myself, and Francesca G.). So many wonderful stories. I think a good way to put it is Greg was one of those people you meet who makes you feel that you are part of a good thing. You're in my heart and soul, my friend. Amy and family, my deepest condolences. All my love and support to you.
