Heidrun “Heidi” Schick-Barnes
February 13, 1962 – July 28, 2022
Heidi was born in Simmern, Germany to Karl-Walter and Erna Schick, and raised in Lindenschied, Germany. Throughout her youth she loved volleyball and getting into trouble with her best friend Birgit. She loved nature and studied Botany while in school. She met her husband Kenneth Barnes and they married in Simmern, Germany in November of 1983. Heidi spent the formative years of her children’s life as a homemaker, and was known for her love of books, and passing along that love to her children. She was also a devoted wife and supported her husband throughout his Air Force career until his retirement in 1999. Heidi was a loving grandmother and adored her granddaughters more than anything else in the world.
Heidi passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday morning, surrounded by her children, after losing her battle to lung cancer. Heidi is survived by her daughter Nina (Jeff), Charity (Erik), and Benjamin (Blaine), her four granddaughters Hailey, Emma, Leona, and Hope, brother Siegfried, and sisters Marianne, Brigitte, and Ute. Heidi is preceded in death by her mother and father.
As per Heidi’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
