

Helen Mitchell Carroll was born on January 24, 1935 to Louis and Flora Mitchell. She was the youngest of six children. She is preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Her brother John Mitchell is the last surviving sibling. Helen was born in Houston, Texas but grew up in Gulfport Mississippi.
Helen's life changed when she met John Carroll in August 1959 at a church dance. It was love at first sight. They were married February 1960. They had their first child Elizabeth January 1, 1961 and their son John was born on August 30, 1963. Helen was a loving and caring wife and mother. She gave all her time and energy to her family.
Helen worked at N.A.S. Pensacola until her retirement in 1994.She then dedicated all of her time to her husband John who became ill. He passed in June 2008. Helen always had time to take her kids and their friends to sports activities, school functions, movies and other activities.
Helen instilled the belief of the Holy Trinity and the importance of keeping God and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior in our everyday lives. Growing up we went to church every Sunday. Helen became very active in the church after the passing of her husband. She kept busy with the ladies group and Alter Society at St. John's Catholic Church.
Helen Carroll had a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew her. She had a sensitive heart and caring way that made people feel so loved. She was a blessing from God. Helen Carroll was one of those rare people who kept giving all year round. Her life was truly a reflection of God's love. She brought Christ's peace, love and joy to everyone around her. Every day of her life she glowed with smiles, laughter, compassion, concern warmth and kindness. Helen will be missed but her love will carry on and the memories of her will never fade.
A Visitation for Helen will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will occur Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. John's Catholic Church, 303 S Navy Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32507. Followed by a Graveside Service from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at St. John's Cemetery, 509 Old Corry Field Rd, Pensacola, FL 32507.
