1935 - 2012
Henry Walter Hurrell passed away on March 1, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 5, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Pensacola at the age of 10. President of his Senior class at Tate High School, where he graduated in 1952, he went on to complete his 4 year Electrical apprenticeship and obtain his Electrical Masters License. He owned and operated H&H Electric Company from 1972-2010 in addition to working for Smith's Bakery for more than 25 years. He was a member of the IBEW Local Union 676 for 59 years and served as the Instructor for the IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship Program for 10 years.
Mr. Hurrell was preceded in death by his parents Varden C. Hurrell and Dora Hurrell Barker.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Elizabeth Ann (Harris) Hurrell and two sons, Robert Henry Hurrell (Cathy) and Michael Varden Hurrell (Suzanne Lewis). In addition, Mr. Hurrell was a proud grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather who is survived by three grandchildren; Heather (Bill) Varis, Jason (Tonya) Hurrell, David (Ivana) Hurrell, nine great grandchildren; Elizabeth, Tina and Peter Varis, Kayla (James) Hensen, Taya, Shasta and Chase Hurrell, Mia and Lukas Hurrell and three great great grandchildren Ayden and Ashton Jenson and Dakota Hurrell.
The family would like to express special thanks and appreciation for the loving care provided by Emerald Coast Hospice (Machalle Mullins). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice.
Bayview Fisher Pou Chapel is in charge of all arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 03, 2012 with funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Bayview Fisher- Pou Chapel with the Reverend Kevin Kristen of Saint Andrews United Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be James Cosson, Jason Hurrell, James Harris, David Sontheimer, Michael Vickers and David Ogden. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
