J. Harry Pociask

1917 – 2010

Jerome “Harry” Pociask, 93 of Pace, died, Thursday, July 01, 2010 at home.

Harry was born March 12, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from the Vocational High School in Toledo in June 1936. In the late 1940’s he moved to Warrington, Florida, where he lived for 51 years, prior to moving to Pace. Harry was a mechanical engineer and began his employment with St. Regis Paper Company in January 1937, from which he retired in 1982 after 45 years of employment. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, between 1943 until 1945, aboard the USS Patoka, USS Panamint and the USS Pennewill. Harry was of the Catholic faith and attended Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pensacola. Being an avid bowler, Harry belonged to the St. Regis Bowling League along with numerous Senior Leagues at Felton’s Bowling Alley, Cordova Lanes and Liberty Lanes.

Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Claire Crooke Pociask; parents, Frank Joseph Pociask and Kathryne Beczynski Pociask; brother, Raymond Pociask; sisters, May Lou Granucci and Lucille McElfresh.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Catherine Michaud and spouse, Kevin Mark Michaud of Tampa, FL and Patricia Ann LaFlamme and spouse, James Kevin LaFlamme of Pace, FL; grandchildren, Katrina Ann Holderby, Nicole Yvonne Michaud, Ian Quinn LaFlamme and Adam Sean LaFlamme.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 09, 2010 at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Harry to the American Heart Association, 4400 Bayou Blvd, Ste 36, Pensacola, FL 32503 or to the American Cancer Society, 5401 Corporate Woods Dr., Pensacola, FL 32503.

The family would like to thank Dr. Doty, Dr. Henson and Dr. Parra and their staff for their wonderful care and treatment of our father. Also a special thanks to his physical therapist, Tony and Darlene at Pace Medical Park.
