Dear Lena and Family – I am deeply saddened to learn that James has passed away. Working with him at the University of North Georgia, which was known when James worked here as North Georgia College & State University, was one of the great pleasures of my academic career. James was a dedicated educator, a wonderful colleague, and a good friend. I used to have lunch with him on occasion, and enjoyed our conversations immensely. I haven't seen him since he and Lena relocated to Florida, and I have missed him. Also, I know how poor his health has been, and that troubled me very much. James will always have a special place in my heart. I pray that his family will derive consolation from their memories of what a fine, accomplished gentleman James was. At this time of mourning, that is the source of _my_ consolation, and I revere his distinguished achievements and his exemplary character.
