Richard went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 12, 2021. Richard was born September 16, 1938 in Brewton, Alabama to the late Owen H. Carroll and Mildred Dewberry Carroll. Richard's mother passed away when he was a baby. His Aunt Euniva Brantley took him in and cared for him until his Dad remarried. He went to work at Everage's Department Store when he was 14 years old. Mr. Everage led Richard to Christ. He was a graduate of W.S. Neal High School, East Brewton, Alabama, Class of 1956 and attended Pensacola Junior College. He went to work for Chemstrand Corp., later changed to Monsanto Co. for 37 years. He was a skilled homebuilder who built all of his homes. He also built several homes for his family and friends. He served his country in the Army National Guard, Army and Army Reserve. He was a member of Pace Assembly of God Church and enjoyed attending his Adult Senior Sunday School class. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Owen H. Carroll and Mildred Carroll, stepmothers Louise Carroll and Lillie Gray Carroll, and brother Larry Carroll. He is survived by his cherished wife of 42 years, Janice Beasley Carroll, his daughter Sue (Steve) Murphy, grandchildren Jared Murphy and Melissa (Heath) Purgahn, great grandchildren Elizabeth, Reese & Ryleigh Murphy and Haddon Purgahn, sisters Ouida Moye & Reba Carroll, sisters in law Olivia Carroll and Kaye (Sheldon) Colbert along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that he loved very much. The Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, with the Service to follow at 2PM, on Wednesday March 17, 2021 at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL. The interment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, Pensacola, FL.
