James “Jim” Cheek, 91, of Lillian, Alabama died, Monday, May 07, 2012 at Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence.
Jim was born April 18, 1921 in Louisburg, North Carolina to Thomas Irvin Cheek and Clara Belle Sledge Cheek. He retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 23 years of service. Jim enjoyed playing golf, square dancing, traveling, RVing, the outdoors and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Thomas Dwight Cheek.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Kreber Cheek; grandsons, Scott Cheek (Kristie), Travis Cheek (Angela), Matthew Cheek (Michelle) and Jonathan Cheek (Kathleen); and seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at Barrancas National Cemetery with Chaplain Joel Underwood officiating.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
