Kathy and I were both saddened to learn of Jim’s passing. We extend our deepest sympathies and sorrows to Jim’s family, relatives and many friends. He was a great man and will be missed by all who knew him. I will always cherish fond memories of the good times I had with Jim while we worked together at Gulf Power Company.
(One of my favorite quotes from Jim was “You can’t nail jello to the wall.”)

I grew up across the street from the Hansen’s. I remember as a young child being a little scared of this burly man with a gruff voice sometimes but as I grew he showed that twinkle in his eyes that exposed his big heart. I remember the numerous projects going on in his garage and driveway from deep ocean sailboat built almost entirely by Jim to the numerous vehicles over the years and then planes. When I started working on my own cars, he would come over to lend his vast knowledge and expertise or just lend an extra hand. As I’ve gotten older I appreciate even more his incredible talents, from mechanics to woodworking (I still fondly remember the wooden train engine he built for Leif and Leslie that we all played in for hours) to hearing him sing at his church. I will miss his twinkly smile and gruff voice. He was in many aspects a second kind of father to me. I know he was this to many of the young men he led over the years as a scout leader. He will be truely missed.

Jim was always such a gentleman, had a great smile & sometimes a twinkle in his eyes. So unassuming at times and modest. But ask him something about whatever & his knowledge and wisdom would flow.
God bless his family and friends.

Jim Hansen was one GREAT guy to not only to work with but to know as a friend. His leadership and knowledge help propel Gulf Power to a superior energy company. But to me it was always his modesty and laughter that carried the day at work no matter how bad the day was going. Jim, you will be missed, but thank-you for all of those years we worked together. You’ll be in my daily prayers and make certain that all of the transmission lines are still working up there because I’m sure the Good Lord can always use someone with your skill set.
Sincerely – Ken Larson

Ah, Mr. Jim. You and Ms. Margaret practically raised me next door. From me watching you tinker in your work room, to the planes, to the boats. You tutored me in math when I was a kid. My family loved your family so much. We still do. My prayers for comfort for Ms. Margaret during this exceptionally hard time. The Ackerman family sure loves you.

Remembering James 1 and his family at this time in prayer.
I am James 3 who was named by James 1 and James 2. We were the only (3) men in the choir singing that were all the same name. LOL..
It is with much love remembering Margaret at this time.
