James “Chip” Reginald McVicar born July 11, 1948, in New Orleans, LA, was called home on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the age of 66; he was a long time resident of Pensacola, FL. Chip was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps, receiving the Purple Heart among other recognitions. He remained a lifelong advocate for veterans and devoted himself to his family, as well as reaching out to anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Alexander McVicar; mother, Mary “Anne” Weldy McVicar; and brother, Robert McVicar.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Perkins McVicar; daughter, Patches McVicar Simon (Landon); sons Gary Brock and Greg Brock; brothers, John McVicar and Scott McVicar (Cheryl); sisters, Pam McVicar and Colleen McVicar Lloyd (Hugh); and ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren who were blessed with his generous love: Jasmine and Fantasia McDaniel; Stephanie DeRise (daughter Hadleigh); Jamie and Kimberly Simon; Nicole (son Kaiden), Gary, and Amy Brock; Charles Lightner; and Jackie Brock.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 N. New Warrington Road, on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at the funeral home. Procession will follow services on Wednesday to Barrancas National Cemetery.
