I have known and worked with him for many years. I am a radiographer at Baptist working 7p-7a and spent a lot of time in the emergency department. I always felt that my shift was going to be good when he was there. He had a way with patience that made them feel like someone cared and that they had come to the right place for help. He gave them the benefit of the doubt but knew the difference between real and fake and treated them that way. 
He always treated me with respect as a person and what I did in my professional role to help him help them. He was smart enough to ask questions of what exams would best for them for a better diagnosis.
I know he loved his family and was happy just to be who he was and what he did. I will miss him because there will never ever be another James Sellers

Of all my students at FSU, James stood out for his enthusiasm, leadership, his kindness, and compassion. He was a role model for us all. I will always remember while James was a doctoral student, very busy with school, work and family that he gladly guest lectured for my baccalaureate nursing students. He shared his experiences as a flight nurse, his love for the nursing profession, and his love for his family. After graduating, he was a compassionate family nurse practitioner and started his own practice. It’s hard to put into words the news of his passing and the deep feeling of void and sadness. I will always remember his smiles, genuine kindness and compassion, and his pioneering spirit as a nurse leader. Dr. Sellers, you will be truly be missed!

Sincere condolences to Janet and family from Marty and Angie Robbins. James and I were clinical managers at Sacred Heart Hospital many years ago. At the time, we were the only two guys in clinical leadership roles and we became really good friends. We haven’t seen each other in several years but I consider it an honor to count him as a friend.   He had a profound affect on the lives of so many people during his time here and will be greatly missed.

James was my best friend and a brother to me. Known each other since we were 15. Been through a lot and had a lot of adventures together. James was always there for me, no matter what.  He is with Jesus and we will see him again.  Love you dude!

We will be attending the service for James from Washington state via Live Stream, but our hearts are there with you all. We are grieving with you, James will be greatly missed at our family get togethers, but always remembered. He was a courageous, caring, loving, giving man. Always thinking of others, displayed by the out pouring of the community and friends. We love you James…until we meet again.

I worked alongside James in both the hospital setting and on the ambulance.  I also had the privilege of learning knowledge as James being a mentor and instructor while I was in both EMT and Paramedic school.  I then had the privilege to teach alongside James years later.   He was full of knowledge and just as smart and sharp with his medical knowledge.  He always knew the right thing to say and put everybody before himself.  When James got sick, I too was battling my own health woes, but we would keep in touch periodically and would check on each other.  But he was more concerned on how I was doing rather than his own battles he was facing.  James had a heart of gold and compassion for everyone around in.  I was honored to learn from him, work alongside him, and have him as a dear friend. You will be missed sir, always and forever.  Thank you for everything you have ever done for me, your family, your patients, and cohorts who have worked alongside you.  You made the world a better place each and every day.  Fly high James.

To say James touched the lives of thousands would not do him justice. He was one of the best humans to walk the face of the earth. He was kind, honest, caring, and loved by every single person he came in contact with. He was an amazing friend who pushed me to be the absolute best version of myself that I could be. He was supportive through hard times, and celebrated with my successes. We were friends through our work and personal lives and I am a better person for knowing him. We had plans for our future work together that I will continue to complete, and I will think of him every single step of the way. I know his memory will be with me as I achieve every one of those goals. This is a devastating loss.

James was a literal living Angel! We met at lifeguard ambulance as coworker and he became my best friend, my confidant. He always had a smile and a big hug waiting! He never judged, he just listened and cared. Not one day will go by that I do not think of you and miss you! So until we meet again, fly high my friend.

My heart hurts for James’ family…I have known and worked with him quite awhile and my memories were of his calm demeanor… smile… kind word for all…humor — excellent brain, character and commitment  to his family and the community.

His passing leaves a hole in our community in many ways… may we honor him and continue his legacy of heart, hope ,perseverance  and caring.  May we strive daily to be a bit like James and may memories comfort his family.
