Janice Bowen Cottone

June 30, 1941 – November 10, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Janice Bowen Cottone on November 10, 2022. Janice has been reunited with her beloved husband Salvatore, who predeceased her by only 22 days. Janice and Salvatore would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 23.

Janice was born on June 30, 1941 in Johnson City, New York. Her parents were Margaret Brace and Michael Bowen, both deceased. Janice was one of three children; her brother Michael and sister Margaret (Peggy) have both predeceased her.

Janice earned a degree in nursing with an RN certification. Janice spent most of her nursing career at St. Clare’s hospital in Schenectady, New York. She joined St. Clare’s Hospital in January 1975 and retired in November 1998 after 23 years of service.

Janice is survived by their four children, daughter Dawn Maynard, son Salvatore Cottone, daughter Kimberly Cottone and daughter Michele Leslie. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie and Kale.

Janice was a devoted wife and provided loving care to her husband until her last days. She was a proud mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Janice was an avid football fan and loved the New York Giants and the Alabama Crimson Tide as much as she hated the Dallas Cowboys! Janice really enjoyed sitting down with a glass of white wine in the evening and working on a cross stitch that she proudly displayed in her home or gifted to loved ones. She will be deeply missed and will always be in our hearts.

Janice will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1:30 pm. Those who wish to attend should arrive by 12:30 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506 to be escorted to the cemetery. A reception will follow from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Elks Lodge, 727 S. 72nd Avenue (Hwy 98 West), Pensacola, Florida.
