Joann Smith

Joann Smith, age 81, of Pace, FL died on Friday October 27, 2017. Joann was born April 4, 1936 in Hamilton, Ohio to Louis N. Schurger and Virgie Baker Schurger. She retired from the American Printing Company in Hamilton, Ohio where she was the office manager. Joann was very active in the Pensacola community. She was a member of Newcomers of Pensacola, several bridge groups and animal rights groups; as well as the American Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House and the ABWA of which she was the woman of the year in 1969.

Joann is survived by her husband, Holden H. Smith; daughter, Kimberly McCarthy and husband Robert of Southbury, CT; brother, Glenn Schurger and wife Yvonne of Hamilton, OH; sister, Donna Brockman of Hamilton, OH; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lott (Jason) of Kingwood TX, Robert Steckler (Jami) of League City, TX and Katie Lawton (Shaun) of League City, TX; and seven great grandchildren.

A celebration of Joann's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
