

John was born in Hazelton, PA on March 30, 1942 to John Nicholas Amentler, Sr. and Louise (Stisowain) Amentler. The oldest of three children, he grew up in his hometown of Manville, N.J. with his siblings Bobby Amentler and Nancy Dayton (Amentler).
John graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts/ Lowell Tech with an engineering degree specializing in industrial, aerospace, electronics and electrical disciplines. He went to work for the Navy branch of the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. While working in Washington D.C., he met Karen that would eventually become his wife and the love of his life. They married in 1966 and soon after bought their first home just outside of D.C. in Fairfax county, VA. where their family began. In 1975, they moved to Pensacola, FL where John became the Director of the Production/Process Support and Engineering Department at the Naval Aviation Depot located in the Pensacola Naval Air Station. John went on to NAS Jacksonville where he served as director for the Navy’s electronic warfare division, before finally retiring from his government civil service duties of 33 years. After his retirement in 1998, he decided to become a principal analyst with Air Inc. /private military consultant for five years before finally calling it quits.
John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Karen L. Amentler; three sons Bryan, Michael (husband to Deidra) and Kyle (husband to Laura); three grandchildren Hadyn, Johnathan and Caroline; and sister Nancy (husband Gary Dayton). A loving husband and father, John was the happiest when spending time with his family. Anybody that knew John would never doubt that he was a very sincere, extremely helpful and caring man. He was an active member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church, the New Life Sunday school class and his community.
John will be greatly missed and loved by everyone that knew him. There will always be a special part in our hearts that will keep John and our memories of him alive.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel & Bayview Memorial Park, located at 3351 Scenic Hwy. Pensacola, FL 32503. Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am with ceremony proceeding directly thereafter at 11:00 am.
