John William ( Pete ) Hawkins, Sr., 85, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away September 17, 2012, at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Barnett Crossroads, Alabama to Travis Dewey and Mary Ida Hawkins. He served in the Merchant Marine and the US Air Force. He was the founder and owner of Massachusetts Salvage Company for 29 years until his retirement. Since his retirement he was active in commercial Real Estate. He is preceded in death by his parents; Travis Dewey and Mary Ida Hawkins and his brother; Claude Dees Hawkins. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Hazel Nelson Hawkins; daughter, Joyce Cobb ( Marc ); son, John Hawkins ( Kathy ); grandchildren, Logan Gray, Georgia Lynn, Tyson Lee Cobb and his faithful secretary of 45 years, Faye Greene.
