John William “Jack” Massey, age 89, of Pensacola, FL, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012. He was born April 2, 1923 in Rupert, GA to the late John Robert Massey and Pauline Cochran Massey.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Sarah Josephine Massey; his children, Beverly Terpening of Panama City, FL, John (Francie) Massey of Kansas City, KS, Barbara (Jim) DeRuiter of Panama City, FL, Beth (Doug) Massey-Price of Pensacola, FL, Jerry (John) DeSha of Portales, NM, and Dana (Mark) Massey-Hill of Clovis, NM; grandchildren, Rodney Terpening, Shelly McNaron, Clint McCormick, Heather Massey Petry, Erin Massey O’Rourke, John Brian Massey, Dustin Price, Kimberly Price, John Forrest DeSha, Sarah DeSha, Matti DeSha, Alex Massey and Rhiannon Massey-Hill; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Donald Massey and Lamar (Linda) Massey, all of Ideal, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

I was sad to hear of Jack's passing. He was a guy who could make or repair anything, not many like him around anymore. I still have some of the tools that he made for me. Jack was also a devoted family man and a good friend. He always told the best stories. It was my good fortune to have known and worked with Jack. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

All of us who worked with Jack at NAS Pensacola on the Northrop and Sabreliner programs will miss the great stories about aircraft and flying that Jack could entertain us with -- To this day, we still use the tools that he fabricated for our aircraft. Part of his greatness was the Passion he had for everything that he was involved with and his ability to transfer that passion to all who had the honor of working with him -- Jack could be as stubborn and hardheaded as a mule but one thing I came to find out over the years was that -- he was always right. He will be in our hearts forever -- -

Sorry to hear of Jack's death. As a young boy, I Remember when he worked with the Forestry Dept., he would visit and we went fishing near our home. In later years we only saw each other at the family reunion in September. May God continue to comfort and bless each of you. John H. Massey Canton, Ga.

Beth and Family:
I feel your pain because I have been right where you are now. Please know that I am praying for you and your family. God is able to provide comfort during the time of greif. Take comfort in the fact that your father has transitioned from laboring here on earth to his heavenly reward. Trust in the Lord and lean not to your understanding. God be with you and your family.
I love you - Cassandra
