Joyce Imajean Herndon

Joyce Imajean Herndon, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023 in Pensacola Florida. Joyce was born in Birmingham Alabama on July 13, 1932 where she grew up in a large and loving family. At the age of 20, she married her first husband, Billy R. Pope, and went on to have her only son whom she loved dearly. In 1970, after 19 years of marriage, she became a widow and then went on to marry her second husband, Clarence Herndon.

Throughout the years, she enjoyed cooking, shopping, getting her hair fixed weekly and going to her neighborhood church. Joyce lived a long and fulfilled life centered around spending time with family and friends and taking care of others in their time of need. Although she will be missed by many, we know that she is now at peace in heaven.

She is survived by her son, Billy (Yvette) Pope; sister, Barbara (Jerry) Stevens; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Henke, Bud Pope, and Kayla Pope; great granddaughter, Maya Henke and grandson-in-law, Charlie Henke.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Justice; father, Charlie Justice; 4 brothers, Aubrey Justice, Bill Justice, Sonny Justice, Leon Justice; 2 sisters, Marie Hollis, Mildred Kiley; first husband, Billy R. Pope; and second husband, Clarence C. Herndon.

A Visitation for Joyce will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, FL 32503, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. A graveside memorial is to follow the service.
