Judson W. Landers, 93, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Pensacola, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Moser Landers, and his daughter, Marianne Landers Burfete.
Jud was born on May 4, 1924 and grew up in Baton Rouge, LA. He enlisted in the US Navy after the outbreak of WWII and served as a medical service corpsman in the Pacific theater. At the end of WWII he returned home to finish his degree at LSU. There he met Margaret who was working on her master’s degree; they married in 1947 and moved to Spartanburg, SC. Here he worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for 33 years. He also remained in the USNR retiring at the rank of CAPTAIN. After retirement Jud and Margaret moved to Pensacola to make a new home, living by the ocean and the Naval Air Station. They were active in their church, Gadsden Street United Methodist, and volunteered for many years at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Jud is survived by son Ted Landers, and daughter-in-law Betty Ann Landers, of Tequesta, FL; daughter Susan Landers and son-in-law Phillip Berry of Austin, TX, son Bennett Landers, of Colorado Springs, CO, son-in-law Mark Burfete of Spartanburg, SC, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Jud and Margaret will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery on Wednesday January 24, 2018 following a 2 pm military funeral on-site.
