On Thursday, November 22, 2018 my soulmate Larry D. Sammons past away. We were married 39 wonderful years. Larry was the sweetest and kindest person anyone would want to meet. He loved his daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.

Larry was born in Montgomery, Alabama on March 23, 1945. His family moved to Pensacola when he was very young so he called Pensacola his home. Larry graduated from Pensacola High School in 1963 and went on to be a Florida Gator. Due to a back injury while playing he was no longer able to continue his career.

After working many years at Pensacola Naval Air Station, NADEP he retired. After retirement he loved going out in the family’s boat. We would spend the day at the Cove watching the sunset and telling stories and sometimes watching the sunrise.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Deborah, his much loved daughter Michelle Cooks, his loving grandchildren Taylor A. Cooks and Marissa D. Cooks also his great grandchildren Brielle Martin, Theo Cooks and Ronan Cooks. He is also survived by his very close childhood friend Bruce Wiggins and his most recent friend Nell Hester. Larry is also survived by his dear sweet nephew David McLean, Jr. and his niece Kimberly McLean.

Larry had a great love for his cats; Kitty, Callie, his dog Miley and most recently several feral cats Baby, Speedy and Angel.

Until we see you again. Words can never say how much we love and miss you.

Larry was the kind of friend that everybody would want to have. He shared without hesitation, which inspired you to want to share with him and others. He was a hard working, ultra dependable, quintessential team member.

Lord, I take responsibility for anything Larry may have done even slightly askew; because, I am sure that I led him on the most “Fun” route all too often.

Thank you for your true friendship, Larry, I will never forget you.

Not too long ago I saw Larry for the first time since High School. It was like walking into a time machine. The same quiet, unpretentious guy with a great sense of humor greeted me. I so enjoyed that meeting.
To my friend and teammate, goodbye until that day when we meet again.
