Laura Moye Vaughn

Laura Moye Vaughn went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. She was born Laura Francis Moye in Flomaton, AL on March 23, 1940 to Thomas Moye and Sallie Mae (Bonds) Moye.

She married Charley Brown of Century, FL in 1957. The same year he joined the US Coast Guard and the two of them embarked on a great journey for the next 20 years crisscrossing this great country. They had 3 children along the way, the first being born in Pensacola and the other two in Virginia. They started out in Norfolk, VA then to Elizabeth City, NC for a short stay then on to Miami, FL where they lived for 5 years. From there they drove cross country to Los Angeles, CA for 2 years and then back across country to Newport News, VA for another 2 years. After that, they embarked upon their greatest adventure, another cross country trek to Ketchikan, Alaska where they lived for 2 more years. They made one final cross country trip from Alaska stopping off in Jasper National Park in Canada and Yellowstone National Park along the way and finally settling down in Pensacola, FL.

In 1986 Laura married her second love, Edward Vaughn of Milton, FL. They spent the next 17 years traveling the country and square dancing together.

Laura is proceeded in death by both parents, both husbands, her son Kenneth Joe Brown, her brother Jimmy Moye and her best friend and aunt, Ruby Jo Baggett.

She leaves behind two children, Darlene Devine (Gene), Chuck Brown (Katrina), brothers Joel Moye and Robert Moye, sisters Lilly Mathis and Linda Moye, five grandchildren Tabitha (Jason), Derek (Danielle), Danielle, Cody, and Cheyanne along with two great grandchildren, Grace and Jude. She was a member of Pine Forest Assembly of God Church since 2003.

A Visitation for Laura will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534.

Followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am, officiated by Brother Gene Hudson and music by Trey Webb.

Laura will be laid to rest in Eastern Gate Cemetery.
