1929-2019
Lois Lucile Townlin Pool, 89 was born May 8, 1929 in Gilmer Texas to Barney Loyd and Lessie Lee Townlin. She departed this life on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
Genesis 5:24 (NIV) “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away” That is the way it works for all God’s children when our time on this planet is over – after we have walked with God, we are no more because God takes us away. When her heart stopped beating she woke up in heaven, where Jesus and the angels and our loved ones who had Jesus in their hearts live. Oh what a glorious day!
Lois was the youngest of two children, she and her sister were very close growing up. She graduated from Union Ridge High School in Texas in 1946. Upon graduation, she wanted to see the big city as Gilmer is a very rural area so she moved to Ft. Worth Texas into the home of her aunt and uncle the Hardegrees. She met the love of her life a career Navy man and they married in 1952. From this point on the two called many places home. With the military you go where they send you and their travels took them across the United States with a son born in San Diego, a daughter born on the island of Oahu and a late in life child born in Pensacola. In 1964, their move to Pensacola from California was to be their last. They finished out their service here and in 1975 retired from the Navy and began to plant roots. Lou was active in the PTAs at her children’s school and loved her life as a homemaker. She lost her husband in 1990 and moved to Westwood Homes in 1992. This was her haven and she genuinely loved helping her neighbors and those less fortunate. She traveled to many a home in the Escambia and Santa Rosa county areas as an assistant to Home Interior Displayers doing in-home shows. She loved doing yard work and was often out raking her yard in the wee hours of the night. Her life centered on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years Troy Felix Pool, her mother and father Braney & Lessie Townlin, her sister and brother-in-law Clarence and Bobbie Haney, her running buddy Lola Mae White and her precious grandson Jason Aaron Skaggs.
She loved her family dearly and is survived by her children, her son Terry Franklin Pool & wife Joyce, her daughter Melanie Reneau Pool Skaggs & husband Stevie, her son William (Bill) Loyd Pool and Misty, 3 grandchildren,(her favorite granddaughter as was Katie’s claim even though she was her only granddaughter), Katie Renea Skaggs Camargo & husband Kenny, John Franklin Pool & wife Erika, Joshua Raymond Pool and wife Mandi, 15 great grandkids, Thomas Wade, Haley Michelle, Leah June, Matthew Kyle, Jasmine Noel, Kenneth Jackson, Addison Grace, Rylan Richards, Logan Rhea, Abigail Wrae, Jack Able, Lucas Joshua, Gavin Luke, Kate Nicole , Grayson James and three Great Grand Pups, Libby, Maggie and Romeo. This was her tribe and she was so proud of each of them. Along with her family members, she also leaves behind many friends in the Pensacola community.
