Lynn Stark Davis, a Mobile native, was born on July 31, 1957, and passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, after her lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Lynn was the only child of William Carl Stark and Barbara Nell Moore, and she was the apple of their eye. Lynn graduated from The Julius T. Wright School for Girls in 1975 where she was a member of the newspaper staff, Beta Sigma Chi, and voted Homecoming Queen for University Military School her senior year.
When Lynn was 15-years old, she invited Joel Bennett Davis to a Beta Sigma Chi dance. Little did she know that Joe would become the love of her life. On December 27, 1977, the high school sweethearts married at Government Street Presbyterian Church, and their marriage would span almost 49 years, until Lynn’s untimely passing. While Joe finished college, Lynn worked as a mortgage loan processor. After his graduation, not only did Lynn encourage Joe as a young engineer and through the opening of his engineering firm, but they also began to grow their family. Lynn was a wonderful and loving mother of four children, and being their mom was one of her greatest joys and accomplishments. Since Lynn was an only child, having four children of her own and a large family was a dream come true and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren brought her immeasurable happiness.
Lynn was the ultimate extrovert and never met a stranger. She loved chatting with anyone who would listen, hosting parties and gatherings, and volunteering whenever she had the chance. Whether it be from serving as room mom for her children’s classrooms, team mom of countless sports teams, serving on the board at Mims Park, participating in her neighborhood’s garden club, helping with America’s Junior Miss (now America’s Distinguished Young Women), assisting with Providence Hospital’s Festival of Flowers, to serving as a Mobile County election poll worker for many years, Lynn was always ready to offer a helping hand. In 2009, Lynn was confirmed into the Catholic Church. Her faith was important to her, and she remained an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Parish until her declining health made attendance difficult.
Lynn’s bright smile could light up any room and her outgoing personality put everyone at ease. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and she touched the lives of so many. Her family and faith were the center of her world, and she will be missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, William Carl Stark and Barbara Nell Moore, and her beloved dog, Josie. She is survived by her husband Joel B. Davis; her children Michelle D. Paulsen (Matthew) of Amarillo, Texas, J. Bradley Davis (Tiffany) of Mobile, Barbara Ann D. Adams (Caleb) of Prattville, Alabama, and William “Bill” A. Davis (Amanda) of Mobile; and grandchildren Bennett, June, Heidi, Brooke, Carl, Robert, Camille, Sophie, and Charlotte.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, in the Murphy Center at St. Dominic Catholic Parish located at 4156 Burma Road, Mobile, Alabama 36693 with a Memorial Mass following at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Lynn’s honor be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
