Mable Suggs Cary

Mable Myers Suggs Cary, age 95, passed away peacefully on December 25. Mable was a native of Pensacola and had previously been a resident of Lillian, AL for many years. She was born on Christmas Eve in 1923 to Clarence David (Jack) Suggs, Sr. and Ethel Yates Suggs.

She was a graduate of Pensacola High School – Class of 1942. During her banking career at Mutual Federal she held many positions including Assistant Vice President of Loans for builders and developers. She retired from First Mutual of Pensacola in 1984.

In 1953 she married her high school sweetheart Kenneth A. Cary. They were married for 45 years until his passing in 1998. Besides their extensive travels and living on the water and square dancing, they enjoyed many hours with friends and relatives fishing and boating.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 5 siblings – Marjorie Suggs Stacey, Clarence David “Buddy” Suggs, Jr., Earl “Ray” Suggs, Warren “Bert” Suggs and Sherman Y. Suggs. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mable had been a resident at Homestead Village of Pensacola for the past 17 years, and had the distinction of being a resident of Homestead longer than anyone at the time of her passing. The family would like to thank all of the staff (former and present) of Homestead Village of Pensacola for their compassion, kindness and care during her residency there, and Emerald Coast Hospice for their attentiveness, guidance and support. We would also like to thank Jennifer Richardson, PA-C & staff with Dr. Gary Gotthelf’s office for their care over the past years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 04, 2019 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.
