

Mark L. Haynes, our beloved husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2014 at our home. He was preceded in death by our son, William Robert Haynes and by Marks brother and his parents of the Atlanta suburb of Mableton. Mark is survived by his wife, Norma and his son, Daniel Gregory Haynes. Mark Attended Atlanta schools and then joined the Army. He was immediately sent to Korea to the front lines. After several months he was wounded by shrapnel. He received a Purple Heart and recuperated after surgery and finished out his three year term in Germany. Mark then attended and graduated from Southern Technical Institute, then a unit of Georgia Tech, and received a degree in Building Construction. He worked in Atlanta for Patchen & Zimmerman Engineering for a few years and then married Norma White of Pensacola. They moved to Birmingham, AL where he was employed by Rush Engineering as a draftsman. He then worked in Panama City and Ft. Walton Beach for architects for several years, after which he took the architectural boards and became an architect. He returned to Rust Engineering for the rest of his working life.Mark married Norma on November 28, 1958. They made their home in Birmingham, AL for many years and retired to Pensacola. For 22 years Mark had been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Pensacola. He was a wonderful husband and father and a very moral man who had a strong influence of good for his family.Mark and Norma and sometimes their sons had great times traveling in the Caribbean scuba diving, snorkeling and sailing with his sailboat. They also enjoyed visiting and hiking in many national parks. They were married for 55 years, and he will be greatly missed.
