MARGARET L CHEEK

Margaret L. Cheek, age 99, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Tuesday January 1, 2019. She was born December 15, 1919 in Flandreau, South Dakota. Margie lived a long, full life.
She attended and graduated from Business College in St. Paul, MN. Margaret worked for Civil Service in Minnesota among several other jobs in her career, including owning a motel in Myrtle Beach, SC Moved quite a bit (South Dakota, Oregon, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama), but ended up settling in Lillian, AL for retirement which is where Margaret lived for over 25 years until moving to Indianapolis, IN upon her husband’s death in 2012. Margie was an avid golfer who won several club championships over the years, and was a sharp card player who enjoyed bridge. She was extremely active and loved the outdoors. Margie, literally would get on a ladder to clean out gutters up until she was in her 90s. With her husband, they enjoyed many, many trips in an RV where they travelled to Alaska and all across the country. She was an avid square dancer and regularly attended dance halls and dance functions. Also, she enjoyed a beer or two just about everyday at 5pm sharp.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Cheek, Ret. USAF; parents, William Henry Kreber and Emma Josephine Kistel Kreber.
She had one son: Thomas (Donna) who died in 1992 who had four boys/grandsons Scott (Kristie) – 3 children/great grand children: Ryan, Kyle, Jessica. Indianapolis, IN Travis (Angela). Winston-Salem, NC Matthew (Michelle) - 1 child/great granddaughter: Kyleigh. Concord, NC Jon (Kathleen) - 2 children / great granddaughters: Corwyn, Scarlet: Portland, OR
A graveside service for Margaret will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506.
