Marilyn Sandifer Poe, age 89, of Pensacola, Florida passed away at home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Marilyn was born on December 19, 1932 in Brandon, Mississippi as the only child of Walter Ellis and Vivian Mangum Sandifer. She married Thomas I. Poe and they had two sons, Thomas I. Poe, Jr. and Paul Ellis Poe.
As was her father, Marilyn was a successful salesperson. Her mother passed on to Marilyn an artist's eye for color and design. During retirement, Marilyn and Tom enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States and Canada in their RVs. They were always accompanied in their travels by their dogs and frequently returned home with a new member added to their canine family. In 2011, Marilyn moved to live with her son Tommy and daughter-in-law, Christine. There Marilyn lived carefree, contented and happy for the remainder of her life.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Tom. She is survived by her son Tommy (Christine), and her son Paul Ellis (Elizabeth) and their sons Taylor Poe and Justin Orr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Marilyn may be made to First Baptist Church Pensacola, 500 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, Florida 32501 and Covenant Hospice Care, 5041 N 12th Ave Pensacola, FL 32504.
A family memorial service and burial is planned. The prayers, cards and contributions of friends and family in Marilyn's memory have been much appreciated.
