Martha Johnson McLellan, passed away Monday, June 15, surrounded by her loving family. Martha was born in Pensacola in 1938 to Annie Pooley Johnson and Christopher A. Johnson, the youngest of their four children. She grew up in East Hill and attended St. Michael and Sacred Heart Elementary Schools and Pensacola Catholic High School, a proud and ever-faithful member of the CHS Class of 1956. In 1961 she married Ronald P. McLellan, childhood friend, classmate, and love of her life who predeceased her in 2007.Ronnie and Martha made their home in Northeast Pensacola and soon were the proud parents of Ronnie Jr., Marie, and Chris McLellan. They dedicated their lives to family, Church, and their children’s activities, ever faithful volunteers at St. Paul Church and School, in the youth athletic leagues of their children’s teams, and in their passion for fishing and the outdoor life on and near the Gulf they loved so much.
In 1976, Martha began her 35+ year career as an educator at Catholic High School, first teaching Religion and later serving in the school’s Guidance Office and as an Assistant Principal from 1988 to 2010. Her passion was dedicating her life to helping others- family, friends, students, co-workers and anyone in need. She is a beloved member of the Catholic High School family where her memory and legacy will continue to fill the halls, especially McLellan Hall, named after her. During her years at Catholic High, Martha helped shape the hearts and lives of countless Crusaders through whom she will continue to live in memory and love.
The greatest accomplishment and joy of her life was her family by whom she is survived: her children Ronnie (Peggy), Marie, and Chris (Lisa); her grandchildren Andrew, Emily, Annie, Christian, Lucas, and Zachary, and her great grandchildren Kaden, Miles, and Ava. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Chadbourne (Edward Jr.), numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
