Born in Park Falls, Wisconsin, on June 1, 1921, to Lawrence and Hazel Aschenbrenner, Mary Louise attended Park Falls High School and Saint Catherine University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. After college she was hired as a personnel specialist for the United States Navy and relocated to Washington, D.C. during World War II.
While attending Mass in Washington, she met a young Naval officer who had just returned from the war. After a short courtship they were married. Mary Louise and her husband Walter F. O'Connor raised two sons and a daughter – Michael, Lawrence (deceased) and Jane.
As a devout Catholic she dedicated her life to God and her family. She worshipped at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Pensacola, where she headed several ministries.
Mary Louise is survived by her son Michael (Ofelia Rasco), daughter Jane, grandson Daniel O'Connor (Cate O'Connor), great-granddaughter Emilia Grace O'Connor, brother-in-law Michael O'Connor (Maureen O'Connor), sister-in-laws Marion Glarum (Sievert), Patricia Columbell; and her nieces, Catherine O'Connor (Mark O'Brien), Sara (Gregg Gallardo), Beth (Cary Nemeth), Trish (Scott Keaton), Katie (Mike Stockhausen), Laura (Curtis Marshall), Annie (Bill Kast) and one local nephew, Michael O'Connor (Marta).
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Father Athanasius Abanalo for his caring ministry and friendship during this time.
A funeral mass will be held at St Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd, Pensacola, FL 32503 at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 27th. Mary will be laid to rest at Bayview Memorial Park immediately following the mass.
