Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mary Lou was raised in an orphanage until she entered high school. She spent those final four years with a wonderful foster family, nurtured by a sweet couple, whom she lovingly called Mom and Pop McGlocklin. A proud graduate of the Class of 1956 from West Philadelphia Catholic Girls' High School, she built a remarkable life grounded in resilience, independence, and compassion.
Mary Lou moved from Philadelphia when her husband, a naval aviator, was transferred to the Pensacola Naval Air Station in 1967. After her husband tragically died one year later, Mary Lou raised her two sons on her own, leading by example with dignity and unwavering love. Mary Lou had a long and respected career as a prominent executive secretary, known for her professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication. But her true joy was found in the simple and beautiful things of life—her garden, her books, and her family.
She was an avid gardener who found peace and pride in tending her flowers. A ferocious reader of many genres and enthusiastic Scrabble player, she cherished every moment of playful competition with her children and grandchildren. Her love of ballroom dancing kept her fit and elegant; she took her steps seriously and danced with grace.
Mary Lou was kind, warm-hearted, and deeply appreciated by those who knew her. Her laughter, strength, and gentle presence will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Always concerned about the needs of others, she was generous with her giving.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard LeRoy Seitz, Sr.; her mother, Anna Bothalter; and her sister, Anna Marie Bothalter. She is survived by her devoted sons, Michael Joseph Seitz and Richard (Roy) LeRoy Seitz, Jr.; four loving grandchildren, Joshua, Gabrielle, Rachel, and Caleb; and three great-grandchildren, Natalee, Donald, and Amelia.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway 90 E, Pensacola, Florida 32503, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
In her memory, may we all continue to place our faith in Almighty God, dance through life with grace, grow with love one toward another, and play each word carefully, just as she did.
