Melissa Ilene Whitworth, 70, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on September 9, 2021, after fighting her second battle with cancer. Lisa was born on June 27, 1951 in Phoenix, Arizona, but lived in Pensacola, Florida for the majority of her life.
Lisa was a member of the Pensacola High School Band and was a PHS Banner Carrier. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1969. She spent 33 years as the office manager, owner, and operator at Rob’s Trailer Hitch Center, the business she helped run with her family.
Lisa loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, but her strongest passion was for singing, especially with her family. She had an unmistakable, contagious laugh that brought an immediate smile to the face of anyone in the room.
Her family and friends were her greatest joy, and she never missed an opportunity to get everyone together to enjoy each other’s company, eat, drink, sing and take pictures.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Dennis E. Whitworth and her children; Kelli R. (Mindy Spangler) Martinez, Jason G. (Katja) Lunsford, Denny (Heather) Whitworth, Whitney (Tony) Ramirez, Chase (Brooke) Whitworth, and Chris Bratton; her grandchildren; Taylor, Jason A., Emma, Madison, Alex, Audrey, Noah, Avery, Ava, India, Ella, Riley, Chase, great-grandson Graham, her parents; David and Myrlene Kersey, and her siblings; Marcia (Lewis) Freeman, David (Sarah) Kersey, and Nina (Bruce) Wood.
In addition to her immediate family, Lisa is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A visitation for Lisa will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway 90e, Pensacola, FL 32503, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
