Born in San Diego, California September 13, 1954 to Edward and Rona Wright. He considered El Cajon, California as home. Mike graduated from Monte Vista High School and then went on to enlist in the Navy in 1973. Mike worked his way up through the enlisted ranks earning the rank of Senior Chief and a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University in 1987. In 1991 Mike was commissioned to the rank of Ensign after completing his second bachelors, becoming a Physician’s Assistant (PA), from George Washington University. Mike shared his love of diving with others and will always be part of the the dive community. We always shared our Navy stories and our passion of diving. Each time I stopped in, I knew I'd be there 30-60 minutes just talking and laughing of dive stories. You will be missed. - A. B. Sea's Diving

Blu Water Scuba and its staff are deeply saddened by the loss of a fellow diver. Mike’s love for scuba diving is evident from his working with other scuba business around the area to facilitate uninterrupted supply of scuba diving needs. We lost not just a fellow scuba diver but also a business partner, a friend, and a great person. Rest in peace, Mike. Our condolences to Mike’s family and friends.

My husband, Matt, and I met Mike within the past year. He got us started on our track towards technical diving, and we had just got side-mount certified the weekend he passed away. We're shocked and saddened, and wish for strength and comfort to his family. Thank you, Mike, for sharing your passion for diving with others, and thank you for assisting us in furthering our training. We will miss seeing you at Blue Octopus.
