Mildred Juanita Wilson, Age 97, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2019. She was born in Holt, FL on July 23, 1921, to Mabel and John Ates. She was the second born of their 9 children. Mildred grew up in Holt, Florida until she met and married Henry Wilson on October 1, 1938, and moved to Brewton, Alabama. They later made their home in Pensacola, Florida where they started and raised their family. Mildred and Henry were happily married for 55 years until they were, sadly, parted by death on February 14, 1994. Mildred enjoyed reading, fishing, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wilson; parents Mabel and John Ates; son-in-law Wayne Hempfling; great-grandson Nathan Hempfling; and 5 siblings, Bill, Terry, Donnie, Betty and an infant brother who passed at birth.
Mildred is survived by her 3 children, Mary (Bobby) Jackson; Ruth Hempfling; Henry “Buddy”Wilson Jr., and a very special daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Wilson. 9 grandchildren: Vickie (Kenny) Riggs; Mike (Delana) Drummond; Tammy (Kelvin) Magee; David (Kristen) Hempfling; Stephen (Teresa) Wilson; Angel (David) Syphax; Tracy (James) Caraway; Trina Wade; and Kenneth (Becky) Wilson. 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters: Norma Jean Hammett and Nancy Beard; and 1 brother, Bob Ates.
Pallbearers will be grandsons’, Mike Drummond, David Hempfling, Stephen Wilson, and Kenneth Wilson; and greatgrandson’s, Austin Caraway and Tyler Wade.
Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Monday morning, April 1, 2019, at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home in Pensacola, Florida. Interment to immediately follow at 11:00 am.
