He was a kind man. Oscar never met a stranger and he was everybody’s friend.
He is survived by his daughters, DeeDee Michelle Green, Nicole Eagle; three grandchildren; sister, Debbie (Randy) Carroll; brother, Kenny Green; partner in life, Faye Baker, Karen and Danny Pendleton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Underwood Green, Sr. and mother, Dorothy Grace “Dot” Green; and Faye’s daughter, Debbie Wilson.
Oscar was born in Ozark, Alabama and he grew up in Pensacola, Florida where he loved beach life. He was even “Mr. Pensacola Beach” at one point. He spent time surfing, camping, and raising hell in general. Oscar served in the Vietnam War and he was proud of his service and his country.
At the end of the war he was stationed at Fort Rucker where he ended his service and returned to Pensacola.
Oscar went on to work for Civil Service for the Blue Angels for a time. After that, he worked as a taxi cab driver, and he was known as “Cowboy”. He also bartended at some local bars such as Tavern on the Beach, Pappy’s Lounge, Tavern in the Country and The Big O. He enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles.
Oscar was the kind of person who you could call for anything. He was a true and loyal friend to all. Oscar was a gentle soul wrapped in leather and jeans. Everyone who met Oscar always went home with a smile.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am - 10:00 am, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery.
