

Owen was born March 3, 1935 in Boston, AL and passed away on December 24, 2024 peacefully at his home in Pensacola, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Owen E. Farley, Sr., Pearlie Vernice (Threadgill) Farley, sister Martha Nan Samples, brother James Asa Farley and sons-in-law, Dennis Maulding and Mark Wyatt.
On December 27, 1956, he married the love of his life Clara Moonean (Mulligan) Farley. In the 68 years of their marriage they were blessed with 3 children; Owen E. “Skip” Farley (Debbie), Deborah Maulding and Rebecca Wyatt, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson due in January 2025.
Owen proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. After training at NAS Pensacola, he was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan during the Cold War years. Later he was flight deck officer on the USS Oriskany during the Vietnam Conflict.
For 36 years, Owen worked and taught at Pensacola Junior College. He taught American History and Florida History. During those years he played Intramural flag football. One year his team played in the National Championship Game in the Louisiana Superdome.
Owen was a member of Pace Church of Christ. He was a minister and an elder for many years in Florida and Alabama. Together, Owen and Moonean did many years of mission work in Japan, London, Russia, Ukraine, Jamaica, and The Cayman Islands.
Owen graduated high school from Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, AL and he graduated college from University of North Alabama in Florence, AL. He received his Master’s Degree from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL. He earned his PhD in Divinity from Southern Christian University in Montgomery, AL.
Arrangements are 9:00 a.m. Thursday January 2, 2025 gather at Bayview Funeral Home for a 9:15 a.m. escorted procession to Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola for Interment with Honors at 10:00 a.m. At 12:30 p.m. a memorial service will be held at Pace Church of Christ on Berryhill Road in Pace, FL.
