Pamela Jean Raybourn

Born April 19, 1949, Pam was born and raised in New Castle, PA. She spent much of her childhood with her grandparents on their farm, where she carried fond memories of the land and of tending to horses—simple days that stayed close to her heart.

After grade school, Pam attended the University of Florida and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy on August 26, 1972. She went on to work for Easterseals in Albany, GA, providing therapy for crippled children and adults for a few years before following her husband to Pensacola, FL, where she continued her work in Physical Therapy at Ascension Sacred Heart.

Pam married the love of her life, Stephen A. Raybourn, on June 23, 1973, at the Naval Air Station Staton Chapel in Jacksonville, FL. Together, they began their family, and Pam retired from her work as a physical therapist to devote herself fully to a lifelong calling as a homemaker. She was a mother of three to her sons, Stephen Vincent Raybourn, Mathew Christopher Raybourn, and Michael Allen Raybourn. As a military wife, Pam was no stranger to traveling, raising their children in Pensacola, FL, Beaufort, SC, and Yokosuka, Japan before settling in Pensacola once more, where they made their homestead.

Pam was a faithful and devout Christian, and her steady devotion shaped the rhythm of her days. She studied the bible daily, holding her faith close and finding in it guidance, strength, and peace. She also enjoyed the outdoors and traveling, and many trips with her family took her to national parks, mountains, and any place that brought her peace. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, with special fondness for her two grandchildren.

Pam is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent Llwellyn and Edith Mae Hartzel. And is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen Raybourn; her children, Stephen (Gabrielle) Raybourn, Mathew (Caytie) Raybourn and Michael Raybourn; two grandchildren, Amelia Catherine Raybourn and Matthew "Everett" Raybourn; sister, Sandra Lee Ludwig; and sister-in-law, Roberta Lee Raybourn.

A visitation will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Tuesday, July 7th from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with a committal service to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
