Patricia Lou Holmes

Patricia Lou Holmes (Pat), age 91, of Roanoke, died unexpectedly, but peacefully on March 7, 2023. Pat was born May 23, 1931, in Champaign, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents Marjorie and Justa G. Kuebler, her loving husband of 57 years, William D. Holmes, and son-in-law Benny Wright. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Vicki Holmes (Benny), Kim Knicely (David) and Kam Harrell (Jeff); sister, Arlene Bright; 4 grandchildren; Chris Harrell (Theresa), Adam Harrell (Renee), Justin Doss (Kate), and Kelsey Doss; and 6 great grandchildren, Ellie Kate, Andrew, Penelope, Rex, William and Hazel.

Pat attended Stephens College and the University of Illinois where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta. She and Bill raised their daughters in Kankakee, IL, and spent many years in Yarmouth, Maine and retired to Lake Spivey, Georgia. Upon Bill’s death Pat moved to Roanoke Virginia to be near her daughter Kim.

Pat loved to cook, garden and decorate. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church.

A memorial service is planned for April 1, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Cave Spring Baptist Church in Roanoke.
