Persis Ethel Sellers

1936 - 2010

Persis was born in Sherman, Maine. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Persis enjoyed being a member of the Pensacola Garden Club. She was a volunteer at Baptist Hospital for 25 years until she became unable to work. Persis was a member of the Bunco club which she looked forward to every month. Persis was a devoted spouse to Jimmy Sellers for 56 years. She supported his military career for 27 years. Persis was most proud of being a mother to James Sellers, Daniel Sellers and Allison Sellers-Cain. She was also proud to be a grandmother and great-grandmother and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Morrison; father, Lewis Robinson Grasse; and daughter-in-law, Susie Sellers.

Survivors include sons, James Sellers, Jr. of Pensacola, FL and Daniel Sellers of Medina Lake, TX; daughter, Allison Sellers-Cain of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Joyce Colassco of East Vasselboro, Maine and Sue Ann Grasse and Betty Lou Rooney, both of Waterville, Maine; grandchildren, James Sellers, III of San Diego, CA and Daniel Sellers of Pensacola, FL; great-grandchildren, Andrew James Sellers and Alyssa Sellers, both of San Diego, CA.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7pm Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Rd., with a Celebration of Life to be held at 6:30. Burial will be at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery.
