Ray was born April 3, 1915 in Ft. Smith, AK to Charles & Dixie Bumpus who passed away when Ray was only 3. At 14, he left the orphanage to make his own way in life. In 1939 he joined the U.S. Army and during WWII he landed on Omaha Beach on day 7. He served with the Tank Destroyers and traveled all the way to Yugoslovia.
After the war, he returned to Phoenix and married Virige, his first wife of 50 yrs.
Ray is survived by his loving wife; Leni Cable and 5 Step Children. He is preceeded in death by his 1st wife; Virgie, parents; Dixie and Charles, 3 brothers & 2 sisters.
Burial to be Thursday 04.16.2015 at 10:15 am at Barrancas National Cemetery, with a Memorial Service to follow at Charity Chapel at 11:00 am.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ray's name to Emerald Coast Hospice.
