Dad, Christmas has come and gone and it was the saddest Christmas I can remember since we lost Doug. I could see you sitting in your chair on christmas morning smiling when we got up and your cheerful "good morning" was always a great way to start a day. you were never mad or grouchy. i kept thinking how we should have been there with you. i held chrystian and couldn't
help thinking you should have been holding him. he would have loved his great grandpa and somehow i think he does. i think he knows you. they say the little ones can see angels and i believe he sees you. sometimes he looks off in the distance and smiles really big. i believe you are making faces at him and he sees you. I miss you so much dad. i can't believe I won't see you again until i get there. I can't tell you how much our christmas' have meant to me the last 14 years. i thank God i had them with you but they were not enough. I loved being with you and mom and i miss you both so much you're both such a special part of my life and always will be. honey  this thanksgiving was the most sadest day ihave spent bacause it was the first holiday i have spent with out you in 47 years and it was so sad i cryed all day long even tho spent it with debbie and kay i really wanted to stay home  and be close to you  but i will on christmas it is going to be just me and my angle i will never leave our house on any holiday any more it is    so hard my heart is always breaking  ever thing i see reminds me of you or something that we have done to gether i dont know how long i can go on with out you i need you to tell me that everthing will be alright  this house is so empty i walk around hoping to see you in the bedroom on the computer but then you are not their and the i just want die baby send me a sign to tell me what to do i pray to the lord everday to help me and to tell me what to doand to take care of you and ihope that you are pain free and i hope you have seen mom and dad  your sister doug jr and sr and ever one else you know and that you are not lonly as i am well baby i love you and i will go away for a while .but not to far  love you more then i can ever tell you by by love barbara.

I Dad, i'm sitting here thinking of you as always and missing you more than you know. I miss your handsome face, your sweet smile, your amazing sense of humor. I can see you smiling and sticking your tongue out at Mom playfully. I have so many wonderful memories of you and mom and your amazing love. I would watch you in awe to see the love between the two of you after all those years. i know you didn't want to leave mom. you love her so much, but i know you had been thru so much, you just couldn't do it any more. But don't worry, we are all here for mom and we love her as we do you. she will always be in our hearts and prayers. She is our mother as if she carried us. we love her as much as if she did. we will always be there loving her and be there if she needs us. you and mom are such an inspiration to us all and we adore both of you. it was so amazing how nurses and others would tell you to do something and there was no response but mom said one word and you would do it, even in a sound sleep. that is an awesome love. i love you and mom that much and all my children and grandchildren and great - grands but i have never loved a man that way. Mom got the best man in the world and i just couldn't settle for anyone who couldn't measure up to you and no one could. Grandpa Lane,

You were and always will be my "favorite" grandfather! I was always such a shy timid little girl, but with you and Grandma, I always felt so secure and comfortable with you both! I will always remember when you and Grandma made your yearly trips to stay with us in Orlando. The smell of your cigars filling the air is a scent that will always be your "signature' scent. Our many trips to the theme parks were and always will be one of my favorite memories with you.

We are planning a trip to Busch Gardens in the next couple of weeks and I look forward to the memories of you there to come to mind. 

You were and always will be such a great role model to your family Grandpa. We all look up to you so much and always will. You were truly one of a kind. I miss you and love you very much. Wish we could of come to see you when you were well, but with Bill being laid off from his job 4 years ago and only working part time now  it has been very hard for us to travel.

I know i'm writing a lot but when i do i feel like i'm talking to you directly. i miss you so very much. i don't know what to do with myself. i'm so lonely without you. you have always been such an important part of my life. i cherish every minute i was blessed to spend with you. nevaeh talks of you every day. in fact, when we went to open house, her teacher asked "was nevaeh close to her great-grandpa" we said yes very. she said she talks about you all the time. when mom sent the picture of you, she took it and put it in her room so she could see it every day. just like i have the one of the 4 of us from the cruize in my room. she keeps talking about going to heaven so she can see you. she loves you so much as we all do. you are such an amazing man and we were all blessed to have you in our lives. i know you are still there watching over us. i can feel your presence every day. i will love you with all my heart forever dad and when i see you again i will tell you again how much i love you and how much i miss you and give you the biggest hug and kiss ever. i love you my sweet, wonderful, handsome, funny, loving dad. you are the best. with all my love always pat.

I am so proud that you were my grandfather. I feel so lucky that I got to spend so much time with you and have so much fun with you. You were such an amazing person inside and out. Good Morning Dad,Moms computer is in the shop so I will write for the both of us.
Mom and I went to the cemetary on Sunday and we were pleasantly 
surprised to see your head stone is already up, It is really beautiful.
We had dinner togetjer which was really nice, I have been spending alot of time with mom, I feel she needs me around sometimes. I try not to smpother her, I know she needs her time with you and I respect that.
I stopped by moms on Monday just to see her and while I was there the electrict went out but the generator did not come on so I checked it out and mom needed a new battery and new terminals. I just smiled to myself because you had asked me to service the generator earlier but I had not gotten around to it . I know that was a sign from you to take care of what you asked me to so mama wouldn,t have to worry about things like that.

To My Wonderful, Amazing Dad,

From the time I was a little girl, I knew you were a special man. You were always so handsome and athletic and smart and organized. You did so many things with us like taking us to the wrestling matches, the circus, swimming, playing basketball at the high school court. You played soft ball with us and your signature whistle you used to call us home still makes me stop and look for you even today.  You took me shopping for baby clothes for Doug before he was born and you were right there taking pictures of him after he was born in the hospital. You and Mom would take him any time we wanted to go out and also when I had Laurie. Then you would both take both of them. You and Mom gave me a baby shower when Laurie was born. That was my first baby shower and you got her a porta-crib and a lot of other things. You were with us when Tracey was born and when I got out of the hospital with her, you met me at the car and carried her into the house, where I found you had gotten her a brand new crib. You came to visit when Sandra was 10 months old, and she went right to you just like all the kids did. She has loved you and mom ever since and has loved the visit to you since you've been in Florida and the one to New York that mom gave us. And now her little girl, Nevaeh loves you just as much as Sandra does. You have done so many wonderful things for me and with me, that I could never thank you for all of it here, nor could I even mention it all here, but please know that I do thank you more than words can say. You have been so many things to me and done so much for me. You have been my hero, my strength, my inspiration, my role model and so much more. You were my protector, all I had to do was call if there was a problem and you and Mom were right there by my side. I remember all the Thanksgivings and Christmases together in New York. Your wedding to Mom, the most wonderful woman in the world. We always laughed and joked and made so many wonderful memories. Your amazing sense of humor kept us all laughing until the last and we will always remember that. There were the awesome cruises that you and mom took us on that we never would have gone had it not been for you and mom. Oh how I have loved the last 14 years that you have been in Florida so that I could come and visit. I know you worried sometimes that we weren't doing anything and were bored. But Dad, I was so happy just being with you both and enjoying your company and always laughing with you both. They were days that filled me with happiness, I wasn't bored at all. Every minute I was blessed to have you with me was a glorious one and I loved them all, even though the time was always too short. Even though we didn't have you long enough, I loved every second with you and mom. I can't begin to tell you how lucky I have been to have the most wonderful, handsome, funny amazing father in all the world. You taught me how to love, how to be respectful, truthful and honest. You gave me values to live by and you lived by them yourself. To say I have always been proud to call you my dad doesn't even begin to cover it. You have given me so much and asked for nothing in return. I will miss you every second of my life for as long as I live until I am with you again. You are always in my heart. I love you with all my heart and soul and I always will until the day I can hold you in my arms again and tell you how very much I love you with all my heart. Dad, as I sit here looking at your picture, I think of how very much I love you and always have.  As far back as i can remember, I was a Daddy's girl, I was so proud of you, You were a wonderful dad in each and every way, I remember, i think it was my 16th birthday, you took me to the Four Seasons restaurant for dinner, I was all dressed up in heels, had my hair all done, You wore a suit and A tie, You were so Handsome. A guy you knew from a Center Bar you worked at, came up to you and asked "Who is that young chick you are with?" You told him I was your daughter, I was so PROUD. I saw him a few weeks later, he told me he didnt believe you, until I told you i was Your daughter. 
 I have so many fond memories of you, of our time together, You were always there for visitation, always spent quality time with me, whether we were at a movie, or Dinner. I remember you took me to the movies to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, You didnt know it was a double feature, You said "let's go" after the first movie ended, Because Tom Jones was next, I didnt want to go, You said "Don't tell your Mother, she'll kill me". You were so embarrased watching the movie with me, It was so cute. Of course I never told her. I've always been Daddy's girl, through thick and thin, and I always will be. I love you so much Dad,
