

May 15, 1948 – June 27, 2015 Robert “Bob” Lewis Wood, age 67, of Yomitan, Okinawa ,Japan, went home to be with his Lord after a long battle with cancer on June 27, 2015 at 2:45 a.m. He was a devoted Christian and loving husband and father. Bob was born in Affinity, West Virginia to Sarah Dean & William Lewis Wood. He spent most of his childhood there and in South Florida. Bob joined the United States Navy on June 30, 1965 achieving the rank of Boatswains Mate First Class, was a two term veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a Deep Sea Salvage Diver. After retiring from military service on January 31, 1986, he worked as a defense contractor in Japan. Bob was always about the Lord’s work even while struggling with cancer. He always made himself available to pray for and encourage everyone he came in contact with. People today have a new life in Christ after spending time with Bob Wood and listening to him preach the Gospel.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife; Masae Smith Wood, sister; Beverly Gammon, Daughter; Roberta Gayle Wood Butler, son; Robert Lewis Wood II., son; Roy Glendon Wood, son; Ryan Matthew Wood, daughter; Jenna Rae Wood, grandchildren; Kyra, Robert (III), Dalton, Meranda, Hannah & Hollee Wood; and great granddaughter; Yuna Starr. Memorial Service Will be on Sunday, July 19, 2015, 2pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with graveside service being held at Barrancas National Cemetery on Monday, July 20, 2015, 11:45pm. Flowers are certainly welcome or you may wish to contribute to the costs to help ease the financial burden to the family.
