Bob was born on March 7, 1937, in Alabama. He spent his childhood in Carbon Hill and Troy, Alabama, where he developed the values of hard work, perseverance, humility, and integrity that would guide him throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances Faught; preceded in death his eldest son Patrick C. Faught, son Robert E. Faught Jr., Daughter-in-law Aimee Faught, granddaughter, Julia Faught; grandson, Jack Faught; and many additional family members in the US and Ireland. His love and devotion to his family were among his greatest accomplishments, and the legacy he leaves with them will endure for generations.
On September 28, 1954, at the age of 17, Bob answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. What began as a young man's commitment became a distinguished military career spanning nearly three decades. During that time, he served honorably through periods of great challenge, including as a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
His courage under fire was recognized through some of our nation's highest military honors, including the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" for valor and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V" for heroic actions in combat. These decorations reflected not only extraordinary bravery, but also the selfless dedication and leadership that defined his military service.
After faithfully serving his country, Bob retired from the United States Navy on March 1, 1980, leaving behind a legacy of duty, honor, and sacrifice. The freedoms we enjoy today have been preserved by men and women like Bob, who willingly placed service above self.
Never one to stop serving others, Bob continued his education after retiring from the Navy. He attended Troy State University, earning a Master's Degree in Public Administration in 1986. He then continued his commitment to public service as a deputy with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, where he served the citizens of Escambia County with the same integrity and dedication that had marked his military career.
On June 10, 2026, Bob passed away in Pensacola, Florida, a community that had become his home and where he continued a lifetime of service.
As impressive as his accomplishments were, those who knew Bob best remember much more than his medals, degrees, or titles. They remember the man behind those achievements—a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, a trusted friend, and a man of quiet strength and unwavering character. He lived his life with humility, placing the needs of others before his own and leading by example rather than by words.
Bob's life reminds us that true greatness is measured not by the recognition we receive, but by the lives we touch, the promises we keep, and the love we give. His journey was one of faithfulness—to his family, to his country, and to the values he held dear.
Today we give thanks to God for the gift of Bob's life. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are also filled with gratitude for the years we shared with him and for the example he leaves behind. May we honor his memory by living with the same courage, integrity, compassion, and sense of duty that he demonstrated throughout his remarkable life.
May the Lord welcome Bob into His eternal kingdom, where every faithful servant finds peace. May perpetual light shine upon him, and may God grant comfort, strength, and hope to all who mourn his passing. Amen.
