OBITUARY

Robert Dominick Forchilli Jr.

June 2, 1939June 1, 2021

Robert D. Forchilli, 81, died peacefully at home on June 1, 2021. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Jones Forchilli, his children Lance, Lisa Novatka (Mark) and Cheryl (Bernie Campbell), his granddaughters Lauren Volheim (Stephen), Lindsay Ray (Carl), and Sophia Campbell, and great-grandsons Nolan and Roman Volheim. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey, his mother Theresa Foglia Forchilli, and his sisters Annette Sheehan and Sandra Hillegras. Bob was born in Troy, New York in 1939. He first arrived in Pensacola at 19 as a U.S. Navy airman and met and married his wife Shirley. They embarked on a 22-year naval career that took them around the world until he retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1979. They returned to Pensacola where he worked for DFAS for more than two decades. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warrington and served on the church council for many years. His family and friends will deeply miss his gregarious nature, sense of humor, and good-natured teasing. He loved fishing, dolphin-watching at the beach, winning big in Biloxi, and, most of all, his family.

SHIRLEY & FAMILY:

I am so sad to hear today of Bob's passing. The best thing is that HE is no longer suffering after his long illness. We are praying for you, Shirley, the children and grandchildren. Take care of yourself and keep in touch. We need to get together soon!

Shirley and family,

I will always appreciate knowing Bob. He was my point of contact in getting a DFAS job. He and I remained chatting friends since 1989. I am Army retired and he Navy but that did not interfere with our chats. He was a friend to many.
