Robert A. Lamy (Bob) of Pensacola, Florida, went home to Jesus on May 27, 2013, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the best friend, soul mate, and love of Mary Kay Lamy for 38 years. He was born in Providence, RI to the late Emile and Elizabeth Lamy. His brother, Alfred, joined him in Heaven, the next day, May 28, 2013.
Bob graduated Mount Pleasant High school in Providence, RI in 1958 and joined the United States Navy in December of that same year. He served 3 tours in the Vietnam War, had a split in service, during which he worked for NASA on the Apollo 7 and 8 projects before returning to the Navy in 1977. He retired with 25 years service in 1993. After retirement, he went to George Stone Technical School for construction and later graduated from UWF in 1998 with a B.A. degree in Social Work, and Troy University with a Masters Degree in Counseling in 2001. He went on to work as a guidance counselor for Escambia County Schools for several years before retiring.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Angelique Hall and her husband Chris, four sons, Christopher, Joshua and his wife Stacey, Zachary, and Justin as well as five grandsons, Kaden Lamy, Jackson Lamy, Logan Hall, Cash Lamy and Ryder Lamy. He is also survived by one loving sister, Eileen Kenna (Joseph), his nephew and close friend Kurt Schultz as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
There will be military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery Shelter B on Thursday, June 13, at 11:45 a.m. A celebration of his life will follow at West Pensacola Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m.
