Robert E. Whitworth

1922 – 2013

Robert E. Whitworth, Sr., passed away in his sleep on Saturday, December 07, 2013 at the age of 91.

He was born on August 02, 1922 in Pensacola, Florida to Joseph McDonald and Carrie Johnson Whitworth. He served in the Navy and received an honorable discharge in August of 1943. He retired from NAS Pensacola where he was employed as an Electrician and also started his family owned business, Rob’s Apache Center, Inc., in 1960 and in 1971 was changed to Rob’s Trailer Hitch Center, Inc.

He loved his work and his family and enjoyed his years going camping and traveling with the grandchildren.

Rob was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, Mildred Whitworth; his parents; three brothers, Hubert, Elmer and R.J.; sisters, Willeta, Lilly and Ruby; and his two daughters, Deborah Paula Whitworth and Vicki Elaine Whitworth-Hoyos.

Rob is survived by his three sons, Robert E. Whitworth, Jr., Dennis E. (Lisa) Whitworth and Charles E. Whitworth; eight grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Bratton, Jessica Hoyos Walsh, Denny (Heather) Whitworth, Chase Whitworth, Whitney (Tony) Ramirez, Sean (Heather) Whitworth, Ryan Whitworth and Heather Whitworth; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Mt. Zion Bible Church, 2603 West Wright Street, with Pastor Jeff Pollard officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chris Bratton, Denny, Chase, Sean and Ryan Whitworth, Tony Ramirez and Patrick Devan.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
