On July 24th 2012, Sammie Charlyne Twitty, 80 years young, reunited with the love of her life, Dale LeRoy Twitty.
She was born October 12, 1931, the daughter of Samuel and Clotile Watkins in Sebastopol, Mississippi.
She was a 1949 graduate of Pensacola High School. In January 1950, she attended an 'Airline/Radio/Television' Communications School in Kansas City. Delta Airlines hired the top 4 girls to work in Atlanta, of which she was one.
Sammie and Dale married on July 26, 1952. Dale preceded her in death. She is survived by 3 children; Sam and his wife Sue, Nancy, Donna and her husband Michael, 3 brothers; Jack and his wife Jackie, Harry and his wife Carolyn, Donald and his wife Fae, 6 grandchildren; Dallas, Kathy, Brian, Steven, Deanna and Tanya, 3 great grandchildren; Taylor, Cassidy and Sierra, brothers and sisters in law; Bill and Aida Futch, Rudy and Ruth Twitty, and other relatives too numerous to name.
After 45 years of Government Service, she retired in August 2008. Sammie left her indelible mark in the halls and offices of the Pensacola Navy Hospital, where she worked for many years.
Although we say goodbye, we know that she is watching over us. Sammie had a great life filled with good times and wonderful memories that keep us smiling.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bayview Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway on Saturday, August 18th at 3pm.
