With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stephen Merritt Pope, who entered into eternal rest on August 13, 2026, at the age of 37. He was a thoughtful, bright man and never shied away from hard work.
Stephen leaves behind his father William F. Pope, stepmother Sheri Pope, his mother Leslie Wolfe Youd, stepfather Joseph R. Youd; his sisters Elyse Springer (Robert Springer), Charlotte Masotto (Nicholas Masotto), Michelle Reese (Todd Reese); step-brothers Shawn Jones (Ivy Chow) and Peter Jones (Deanna Flowers); nieces and nephews Merritt and JT Reese, Melina Springer, Margot and Maxwell Masotto, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who love and will miss him dearly.
Stephen attended St. Michael Inter-parochial School in Pensacola, Gulf Breeze Middle and High Schools, graduating in 2007. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology.
A memorial will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, Stephen can be honored by donations to the Humane Society or your preferred charity.
Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway is entrusted with arrangements.
