Sue Lavon Parsons Andrews was born on June 14, 1934, in Wooster, Arkansas, to Mattie Smith and Lawson Parsons, and after a short illness went home to our Lord on January 22, 2019. She was preceded in death by two siblings V.D. Parsons and Nadine Parsons Phillips, her husband of 22 years, Talcott “Andy” Andrews (1991), and her beloved of sixteen years, Horace “Ace” King (2018).
She is survived by her four daughters Laura Greer (Jimmy Myers) of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Nancy Carol Spieth of Irmo, South Carolina, Nancy Wise Norman (Max) of Pensacola, and Patti Taylor (Nicky) of Marietta, Georgia. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Jennifer Greer, Sandy Spieth, Mary Spieth, Whit Wise (Leslie), Jena Marie Wise (Robert Bassett), Russell Wise (Jill), Landon Taylor (Alanna), and Clint Taylor (Alexandra). Sue has twelve great-grandchildren, Alton, Evans, and Eleanor Wise, Roman, Reid, and Ruby Bassett, Raleigh, Nell, and Jack Wise, Landon and Caitlin Taylor, Noah Taylor, Alyssa, Brayden, and Alexis Greer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sue also cherished time with her beloved poodle, Toby.
Sue grew up in Wooster and has always been a faithful Redskins fan. She was a valued employee at the US Pentagon for 36 years where she earned her nickname, “Admiral Sue.” She retired in her dream home in Pensacola overlooking the Perdido Bay. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Pensacola. She enjoyed playing bridge weekly with her friends. She was also an active, award-winning member of the Pensacola Civitan Club as well as the International Civitan Club. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on New Warrington Road. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:00pm followed by service at 2:00pm with reception following. The procession from Oak Lawn Funeral Home to Barrancas National Cemetery will be on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 1:30pm.
